CartCycle uses a small number of browser storage entries to keep the app running and, optionally, to understand how it's used during the beta. Here's what's active and what you control.
Essential — account & security
These keep you signed in and the app working. Without them CartCycle can't function, so they're always on.
Technical details
- sb-*Auth session tokens. Set when you sign in, cleared when you sign out.
- themeYour light/dark mode preference. Stored in your browser only — never sent to a server.
- cartcycle_*Temporary app state flags used during onboarding and the welcome screen. Cleared automatically.
Optional — beta product analytics
During the beta, CartCycle collects usage data to understand which features are working and where things break — so problems can be found and fixed faster. This is entirely optional. Your grocery purchases and receipt contents are never included.
This analytics layer will be removed when CartCycle exits beta.

- PostHogTracks page views and feature-use events linked to your account ID. No grocery or receipt data.
- HeyCatchTracks funnel events and network timing for CartCycle's own backend requests. No third-party ad networks.
- ph_*PostHog session and distinct-ID markers stored in your browser's local storage.
